This policy explains what data is collected when you use the Independent Care Directory, who holds it, and your rights over it. We have kept it short because the site is deliberately simple.
Who we are
The Independent Care Directory is built and run by Caia Care Studio, a brand and design studio for care companies in the UK and Ireland. The studio is the data controller for this site. For any question about your data, or to make any of the requests described below, email hello@independentcare.directory.
What this site does not do
The directory is a plain, static website. It does not:
- set any cookies;
- run analytics or any visitor tracking;
- load fonts, scripts, or content from third-party services (no Google Fonts, no CDNs, no embedded maps or widgets; everything is served from this site);
- contain a contact form.
Because there are no cookies or trackers, there is no cookie banner and nothing to consent to on that front.
The data that is processed
When you browse the directory, there are two narrow cases:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Namecheap, keeps standard server logs whenever any website is visited. These can include your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. Under data protection law an IP address counts as personal data. These logs are generated and held by Namecheap as part of providing the hosting, on their standard retention schedule. We do not use them for tracking or marketing.
- Email you choose to send. The only way to contact us from this site is the email link. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it solely to reply and to take any resulting request forward, and we keep it only as long as needed for that. We do not add you to any marketing list.
The providers listed here
The directory lists independent care providers so that families can find them. Each entry is built from publicly available information: the provider's name, the area it serves, the types of care it offers, its website, its published contact details, and public trust markers such as a CQC rating or Google review score. We compile this from public sources, including the Care Quality Commission, Companies House, and the provider's own website.
Most of this is business information. Where a provider is a sole trader or a named individual, some of it can count as personal data. We publish it on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a useful public directory of care providers. If you run a listed service and would like your entry corrected or removed, email hello@independentcare.directory and we will act on it.
Legal basis
Server logs and the directory listings are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and securing the site and providing a useful public directory. Email correspondence is processed to respond to your enquiry and, where it leads to work, to take steps at your request.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR / GDPR) you have the right to ask us to:
- confirm what personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it.
Email hello@independentcare.directory and we will respond within one month. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission).

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it.
